Filament for outdoor use: ASA vs PETG vs PLA, by the documentation

This page summarizes what manufacturer documentation says about heat resistance and printing requirements. It does not cover UV resistance, which Bambu's material table does not rate; check each product's technical data sheet (linked on its product page).

Bambu states PLA is not recommended for environments at about 50 °C or higher, and lists PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, PA-CF/GF and PET-CF/GF as offering better heat resistance. (source)

Bambu recommends enclosed printers for ABS, ASA, PC, PA and their CF/GF variants, and notes an enclosed printer is recommended for PETG to protect interlayer strength in low ambient temperatures. (source)

Practical reading of the table: if your printer is open-frame, Bambu rates ASA and ABS "Not Recommended" for that printer type, which leaves PETG as the higher-heat option it rates compatible there (source).
